Mrs. Evlyn Gladys Coombs, 72, died Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA surrounded by those she loved.
Born June 19, 1946 she was the daughter of the late Robert Harold Best and Myrtle Elizabeth Best. She was a graduate of Herschel V. Jenkins High School and Georgia Southern College and retired from teaching English at Beach High School in Savannah, Ga.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 38 years, Jon David Coombs; three sons Albert Michael Morrison of Atlanta, GA, Peter Brian Morrison of Tampa, FL, and David Russell Coombs of Atlanta, GA; sister Theresa Raines of Athens, GA; Nieces Stephanie and Allison Raines of Savannah, GA; Nephews Denver (Labake) Best of Japan, Dustin Best of South Carolina, and William (Vicki) Raines of Idaho; Sister in-Law Marguerite Best of Georgia, wife of her late brother David Best.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA.
The family suggests any remembrances be made in her memory to the Georgia Heartland Humane Society (georgiaheartlandhumanesociety.org) or to Saint Judes (stjude.org).
